mesOUD

I’m Mehmet.

mesOUD did not begin as a brand. It is the natural result of my search for the perfect oud. Over time that search became something more than curiosity, a journey shaped by patience, attention, and at times a level of perfectionism that borders on obsession.

Everything you see on this site is entirely my own work and my own interpretation.
mesOUD is not a buy and sell business. What happens here is not about trading products, but about pursuing the finest oud that can possibly be distilled.

The Oud woods I work with are completely wild and genuinely incense grade. I do not use the term as marketing language. I mean woods that carry weight and character even in their raw state  the kind people often hesitate to burn as incense.

Finding such material is not easy. Over the years I have worked with hunters from different parts of the world who know exactly what I am looking for and where my quality standards begin. For me, there is no category called “average.”

What we often see in the market is quite simple: a photograph of a piece of wood and the statement, “this oil was distilled from this oud.” The story usually begins and ends there.

At mesOUD the approach is different. The process itself is not hidden. The selection of the wood, its preparation, the grinding, and the path that leads to distillation are shared as transparently as possible. Because the real work  and the real value  is often hidden inside that process.

Soul of OUD

Over the years I have distilled Ouds from many regions and species. This experience taught me something simple but important: every piece of agarwood is unique. Each one behaves differently and does not accept the same treatment.

For that reason, I built my distillation systems from the ground up.

The design of my stills is entirely my own, and throughout that process I worked with some of the best craftsmen in the field.
My entire system is copper. Copper in distillation is like a double edged blade  if you don’t know how to use it, you cut yourself.

My copper stills were hand hammered by a master craftsman recognized on UNESCO’s “Living Human Treasures” list. From the column to the condenser, every element was built through precise engineering calculations. Because without understanding which fraction should recondense, when it should return, and how much should move forward, you cannot build character into an oil.

Distillation is often perceived as a simple process. In reality, the difference lies in the details. From the mineral composition to pH of the water to heat management, grinding size of woods to temperature of cooling water .... every small parameter influences the final character of the oil.

For me, the question has never been yield.

The question is character.

From a good wood, if you avoid the most basic mistakes, it is possible to produce a good oil.
A ten year old child could learn the mechanics within a week. If foolish enough, he might even call himself a “Master Distiller.”

But that does not make the oil artisanal. The difference is as clear as the one between a chaotic barbarian horde and a disciplined Roman legion. Not everyone sees that difference but for those who do, it is unmistakable.

Like many of you, I am also an oud collector and enthusiast. These distillations are done for myself and for those who share the same pursuit. Often in between an intense professional schedule, sometimes at the cost of sleep. This is not how I make my living  it is purely a passion.

The oils that emerge from this process are shared with people who are searching for truly exceptional oud and who understand the value of that journey.

That is why mesOUD stays away from noise. It has no need for exaggerated stories or flashy marketing. What emerges here are

museum grade oils, built with soul and character.

If what you are searching for real Oud,our paths will likely cross at some point.

If mesOUD speaks to you, you already know why.
