Shebbo is the result of eighteen natural materials subjected to a single, uninterrupted codistillation over ten days.

At its core are Indian and Sumatran Ouds, sandalwood and cedarwood, articulated through resins, roots, spices and citrus. None was distilled in isolation; none was subsequently blended into place.

SHEBBO is not a blend.

Once the still was charged and the distillation began, there was no possibility of revision. No rebalancing, no addition, no subtraction.

This is precisely what makes codistillation interesting to me:

one retains the freedom to err, but forfeits the privilege of correction.

It demands an understanding of materials beyond their individual olfactory profiles how they behave under prolonged distillation, what they surrender, what they retain, and, more importantly, what they become in one another’s presence.

SHEBBO remains unmistakably oud led,deep, dry, warm and resinous, with spices and citrus in its structure. Sandalwood Cedarwood lend dimension and architecture without domesticating the oud beneath them.

Its individual materials can, of course, be sought out.

That rather misses the point.

The intention was never to assemble eighteen beautiful aromas.

It was to discover the nineteenth.
